Tiny Island, Massive Experiences
Singapore may be small — just 733 square kilometres — but it punches well above its weight. This city-state is a melting pot of Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Western influences, creating a destination unlike anywhere else in Asia. And for Indian travellers, it feels comfortably familiar yet refreshingly different.
Day 1: Icons & Gardens
Morning: Start at Gardens by the Bay — the Supertree Grove, Cloud Forest, and Flower Dome are open from 9 AM. The cooled conservatories are a relief from the tropical heat.
Afternoon: Walk to Marina Bay Sands — the SkyPark observation deck (₹1,500) offers 360° views. For a free alternative, head to Level 57 of CÉ LA VI bar for equally stunning views.
Evening: Watch the free Spectra light and water show at Marina Bay (8 PM & 9 PM). Then explore the Helix Bridge and waterfront promenade for that classic Merlion photo.
Day 2: Culture & Food
Morning: Explore Little India — Tekka Centre for a masala dosa breakfast, Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple's ornate gopuram, and the colourful shophouses along Serangoon Road. It'll feel like home, but different.
Afternoon: Head to Chinatown for the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and a hawker lunch at Maxwell Food Centre — try the legendary Tian Tian chicken rice (₹300).
Evening: Kampong Glam (Arab Quarter) for the golden Sultan Mosque, Haji Lane's street art, and Middle Eastern restaurants. End with a cocktail at one of the speakeasy bars hidden behind unmarked doors.
Day 3: Adventure & Shopping
Morning: Sentosa Island — Universal Studios Singapore (or S.E.A. Aquarium if you prefer a calmer pace). The monorail from Vivo City is the most scenic way to arrive.
Afternoon: Shopping on Orchard Road — ION Orchard for luxury brands, or head to Mustafa Centre in Little India for 24/7 bargain shopping (a favourite of Indian travellers for electronics and gold).
Evening: Farewell dinner at a hawker centre — Lau Pa Sat for satay street experience, or Newton Food Centre for huge variety.
Food Not to Miss
- Chilli crab — Singapore's national dish. Sweet, spicy, tangy sauce with fried mantou buns
- Laksa — Coconut curry noodle soup that's rich, fragrant, and addictive
- Kaya toast & eggs — The traditional Singaporean breakfast at Ya Kun or Toast Box
- Roti prata — Flaky flatbread with curry, available 24/7 at many stalls
Practical Tips for Indians

- Get an EZ-Link card for unlimited MRT (metro) and bus rides
- Tap water is safe to drink everywhere
- Chewing gum is banned (yes, really). Don't bring it into the country
